The Muse Letter №3

Waking up with a cold coke in your hand, floating from room to room in a gown that is easiest to find on the internet if you google the term „SWEATER DRESS“.

– That and an oversized pair of sunglasses and you’re good to go.

Since the lockdown started in the UK I have been more on the sloppy side of things meaning: wearing the same baggy jogger everyday with an unfortunately not so infinite source of black T-shirt combo. Have I washed them? Maybe. Who knows. Hard to tell in these “UNPRECEDENTeetetete TIMES”. Hands up who else hates this phrase as much as I do!

Anyway sometimes a muse has to look to other muses for inspiration and who if not the mother of effortless chicness, writer and heroin of long saggy clothes: Joan Didion.

Looking at photographs of her in the early 70ies, here she is sitting in a chair in a loose velvet dress, covered in fabric from head to toe radiating elegance yet pragmatism. If I can get my hands on a dress like that, I know: Self-isolation will feel better I am sure.
